Office Protocols

What to Expect at your Orthodontic Appointment

As Covid-19 mandates ease, we continue to adjust our office protocols based on recommendations from the College of Dental Surgeons of BC (CDSBC), British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA), the Provincial Government, and what we consider to be best practices.

·         Please do not come to our office if you are unwell: If the patient is unwell, exhibiting cold or flu like symptoms please call our office and we will happily reschedule the appointment. We aim to provide orthodontic care in the healthiest and safest environment possible and this cannot be achieved without your cooperation.

·         Masks Are Optional: Individuals entering our office can choose to whether or not to wear a mask. We fall under the category of Health Care in the Province of BC and therefore masks will always be worn by our clinical staff . If a patient arrives without a mask and would like one, we will happily provide them with one.

·         Parents in the Waiting Room: As we welcome parents back into our office, please be reminded that our waiting room is not large and preference in our waiting room is always given to those patients with scheduled appointments. If a parent is accompanying a child, please just one parent and no siblings.

·         Parents in our Clinic/Treatment Area: There are certain appointments or procedures for which specific instructions may need to be given to a parent. This will be the only time a parent will be asked to join us in the clinic area as we aim to keep the clinic free for staff and patients to move around.

·         Please Brush Your Teeth Before Leaving Home: Please ensure the patient has brushed their teeth thoroughly before their appointment. Our toothbrushing station remains unavailable at this time.

·         Please Ensure You Arrive on Time to Your Appointment: Our current policy is NOT to charge for missed or late appointments. However, depending on how late you arrive we may not be able to accommodate you and may need to reschedule your appointment. If you anticipate that you will be late, please call our office.

·         Please check in with our front desk: When the patient arrives at our office, please check in with our front desk. This will notify our clinical staff that the patient has arrived and is ready for their appointment.

·         Treatment Updates: The patient will be given an update on their treatment by the clinical assistant and doctor. If further information is required beyond what was provided to the patient, please do not hesitate to contact us. If a parent has accompanied the patient to the appointment an update will be provided to the parent.

Our office will contact you either same day or the following day to book you or your child’s follow up appointments.
